Our struggles & pain thrive in isolation, you don't have to do this alone. My approach to therapy is gentle, affirming & collaborative. Guided by trauma-informed philosophy, I view therapy as a collaboration; a space where trust + healing are co-created. Working with a therapist requires vulnerability & courage, it taps into & tests our innate strengths. It will be challenging at times and our capacity for being challenged varies one session to the next, so my priority is to check-in & move at a pace that's accessible. This means sometimes we slow down, and other times, I'll offer a gentle nudge towards critical self-reflection.
I'm human first & therapist second. Being a 1st generation Iranian, cisgender woman, raised in the U.A.E., my identity has been shaped by 3 cultures: Iranian, Arab & American. This tends to offer a supportive presence for clients from the SWANA region (Middle-East). I'm also a yoga teacher & intimately aware of the mindbody interplay in the therapy room.
Experiencing life transitions, trauma, sociopolitical turmoil, immigration stressors, relational/mood struggles, etc. are part of being human. Trying to remain aligned with our values/goals + connected to our community/culture + managing daily routines, all while navigating life's hardships can be a difficult dance in isolation- there is support out there.
